Money spinning World boxing super series semi final has been fixed between George Groves, super middleweight title holder and former sparring partner Chris Eubank Jr after their recent victories. The fight is expected to take place in January or February 2018. The venue is yet to be confirmed but Manchester Arena, Wembley Arena, Fulham's Craven Cottage, Brighton's AMEX stadium and Cardiff's Principality Stadium are possible venues for the big match.
With an uppercut in the first round, Eubank beat Avni Yildirim in the third round stoppage. Eubank was at ringside at Webmley Arena to witness Groves destroy Jamie Cox over the weekend with a stiunning uppercut to the body. The crowd watching the nasty fight missed to witness Cox in agony on the floor. After the victory over the weekend, Groves is confident that Eubank Jr will be nervous after watching him wallop Cox with a fourth round knockout but he is wary of Eubank's uppercut and hopes that he doesnt get knocked out with an uppercut at least in the first round.
Groves was seen criticising his upcomming opponent. he said “It doesn’t matter as, at the end of the day, the very best Chris Eubank won’t beat me.“What I like about Eubank is that he will punch from his ankles from the get go but that’s because he doesn’t have the boxing brain.“He is stepping up big time against me. He’s not good enough.”
After loosing three world title attempt against former WBC champion Badou Jack, two losses to ex-WBA and IBF king Carl Froch Groves feels revitalised by trainer Shane McGuigan and is hopeful that he will be unstoppable in the future.
